25 quotes from St. John Chrysostom

St. John Chrysostom (349- 407) was the Archbishop of Constantinople and considered one of the greatest saints, early church fathers, and doctors of the Eastern and Western Churches. He was famous for his incredible insight and powerful preaching. It has been said that he memorized the Bible. After his death he was named Chrysostom, which comes from the Greek word chrysostomos, meaning “golden-mouthed”.

The church celebrates St. John Chrysostom’s Feast Day on September 13th. In honor of the golden-mouthed Archbishop, here are a few quotes from his writings and preaching. I hope they nourish your soul as they do mine.
